Assessment of Salinity Tolerance of 4 Chili Pepper Genotypes in Vietnam

The article describes a new method to assess the response-ability of 4 chili pepper F1 species: Chanh Nong, Phong, Mui Ten Do, and EV258 based on different concentrations NaCl or CaCl2 (0, 50, 100, 200, 300 mM). This experiment was conducted in invitro greenhouse conditions within 12 weeks by investigated growth developmental parameters. Our showed that salt stress caused decrease all indicators at higher concentrations. Typically, 200 mM level, 100% Phong seeds germinated while less germination found Do genotype (89%), following (72%) Nong (61%), respectively. While this rate significantly decreased (50%) increased period from 6 9 days compared control treatment. Similarly, parameters such as plant height, number leaves, branches, flowers, leaf area also increasing salinity; however, total phenolic compound antioxidant activity increased. New research results indicated is potentially considered salt-tolerant can be used for cultivation under climate change conditions, especially saline lands.
